City Planning

Award winning masterplan developed by HoK.
Lavasa's design is based on the transect model, wherein the development of the Hill City begins from a densely populated town center and gets sparser as it goes uphill. The manmade environment blends itself into the natural environs without disturbing the innate nature of the place.
Development of Lavasa is planned across four town centers. Each town center has been planned not only to capture its own special charm but also to create a holistic fusion of country and cosmopolitan life experiences.

Infrastructure

Uninterrupted power supply, thanks to a partnership with MSEB, as well as Tata Power to meet all power needs. In addition, Lavasa also plans to build facilities to harness wind and solar power, apart from miniature hydro dams for additional electrical supply to ensure self-sufficiency.
A Water Supply System with water supplied from the lake and a Water Treatment Plant that more than meets current international health standards.
Smooth roads, leading in and out of Lavasa.

Till date, a total of half a million tree saplings have been planted at Dasve, with an average survival rate of 70%
Minimizing soil erosion and facilitating ground water recharge by setting up a plantation of fast-growing shrubs, and 20000 running meters of continuous contour trenches (CCT), covering 33 hectares

Is enforcement of rules-traffic related, environment related, cleanliness related - the biggest problem faced by Indian cities?

the rule enforcers are reluctant to enforce the rule as if the common man knows the rule totally than either he will completely abide the rule or if punished once with heavy penalty than he will not repeat it.But the rules should be made public without loop holes people will happily follow the rules.

According to me, the biggest problem is the population which is growing at a tremendous rate and that too exponentially. The scenario is serious in rural areas which adversely affects the metros which get filled to brim as youngmen from rural area goes to big cities in search of jobs. Environment factor arises for the educated person but major part of the Indian population is poor and uneducated. The meaning of environment word is itself not clear to poor. He does not even know where he/she will get the next time meal from, and we expect him to think about our environment. Development in terms of new cities with proper planning and futuristic approach is an excellent idea. Hats off to the person who started the process and brought this magic lamp forward to millions of Indians. We all indians specially the more fortunate ones, need to lift the quality of living for ourselves as well for the other side of the society because when we will excel, believe me, INDIA will excel at exponential rate.
